Therapy For ADHD
Do You Feel Like It’s Impossible To Slow Down Your Mind?
Are you struggling with racing thoughts and constant stress?
Does your mind leap from one topic to another so fast that it’s hard to focus?
Have you ever wondered if your challenges are the result of undiagnosed ADHD?
When you’re living with ADHD, it’s easy to feel like your brain is moving at a thousand miles per hour.
Maybe you feel distracted 24/7 and can’t concentrate on one assignment for very long. Perhaps you’re constantly forgetting plans with other people and neglecting responsibilities because of how scattered your attention is.
After a while, your ADHD could start to negatively impact every area of your life. Your lack of focus could hamper your performance at work, and your inability to follow through with plans could lead to strained relationships with friends and family. As a result, you may be considering therapy for ADHD.
ADHD Can Feel Like Both A Blessing And Curse
On one hand, ADHD allows you to be creative, think outside the box, and multi-task better than most people. It can help you hyper-focus on important tasks and be more productive when it matters. On the other hand, however, ADHD can become a hindrance when it’s not managed well. The key is learning to harness ADHD to your advantage by reducing its negative effects and playing to its strengths.
In fact, with the right help and support, you can learn to utilize ADHD as a superpower. At Project Heal, our therapists are here to help you increase your concentration skills, manage your stress levels, and use your strengths to live a more creative and fulfilling life. We provide therapy for children, teens, adults, and people of all ages living with ADHD.
ADHD Is The Natural Byproduct Of A Busy, Distracted World
Today, ADHD is more common than it’s ever been. While there are many factors that can contribute to the onset of the condition, the main culprit behind the rise in ADHD is our digital lifestyle. All day long, we are bombarded by quick bits of information and constant bursts of entertainment. We’re glued to our phones and taught to seek the never-ending dopamine hits of scrolling on social media. All of this creates a breeding ground for ADHD. It increases our distractibility and scatters our attention in a million directions at once.
What’s more, we aren’t designed for this kind of screen-dependent lifestyle. We live very sedentary lives, and this prevents us from releasing our stress and using our energy in effective and adaptive ways. As a result, we have all this built-up stress that festers inside of us and has nowhere to go. We are meant to be out in nature, like our ancestors, who lived in tight-knit communities that were deeply connected to the natural world. Now more than ever, humanity needs to rebuild its sense of community and connection to Mother Earth.
Many People With ADHD Feel Profoundly Misunderstood
When you’re living with ADHD, it’s easy to feel like an outcast in our society. After all, so many people with ADHD are falsely labeled as lazy and unmotivated. From a young age, children with ADHD are often seen as “troublemakers” because they struggle to sit still and pay attention in school.
The irony is that the real troublemaker is society, not people with ADHD. An ADHD brain simply digests information differently than a neurotypical brain. And our modern world isn’t built to accommodate these differences. No wonder, then, that so many people with ADHD feel ostracized and misunderstood.
Counselling is a chance to get professional support from someone who understands the challenges of living with ADHD in a society as unaccepting as our own.

Therapy Can Help You Learn To Use ADHD As A Superpower
ADHD doesn’t have to hold you back in life. At Project Heal, our goal is to help you manage the aspects of ADHD that are difficult for you and learn to harness ADHD as a positive force. We’ll give you a safe space to vent your frustrations about living with ADHD in a neurotypical world and explore ways that you can successfully adapt to your challenges. Along the way, you’ll receive empathy, validation, and deeper understanding.
Since we work with people of all ages, we would also be happy to help your child or teenager if they are struggling with ADHD. Getting mental health support for your child at a young age can be a huge difference-maker in their life. It can set them up for future success and happiness and ensure they have a toolbox of skills for managing ADHD no matter where they are on their journey.
Tailoring Your ADHD Treatment Plan
Oftentimes, therapy begins by exploring the core issues fueling your struggles and normalizing the challenges of life with ADHD. We will help you understand that you’re not alone, that ADHD is not a weakness, and that being neurodivergent can allow for greater creativity and success. We’ll equip you with skills and strategies that empower you to thrive. Your therapist will help you improve your self-care routine, reduce your stress, and use your differences to level up and achieve a more optimal life.
Some of the main approaches and strategies we use for ADHD treatment include:
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
- Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
- Psychodynamic Therapy
- Neurofeedback
- Mindfulness
- Group Therapy
- Music therapy
- Art Therapy
Regardless of which approach or combination of approaches suits you best, our therapists are confident that we can help you live a joyful, creative, and fulfilling life even with ADHD. The goal is not merely to manage ADHD, but to transform your relationship with it, enabling you to use it as a superpower in day-to-day life.
You May Have Some Questions About Therapy For ADHD…
Rest assured—our therapists have lots of experience doing what we do. We understand the nuances of ADHD and we know how to customize treatment so that it’s tailored to each client. Even if one approach doesn’t suit you, there are many others to choose from. As long as you’re committed to putting in the work of trying new things and exploring new possibilities, we believe you can find relief and empowerment through therapy.
No, you won’t. Our approach is client-led, so you are in control of your own treatment process. Medication can often act as a helpful supplement to therapy, since it can improve your mood and ability to focus, but it cannot give you new skills and insights like therapy can. That said, if you’re interested in using medication, we would be happy to connect you with a prescriber if you’d like.
Our approach to therapy is nonjudgmental—we seek to make all our clients feel validated in their struggles and accepted for who they are. It’s normal to feel embarrassed or ashamed about certain aspects of ADHD, but we can assure you that you’re not alone. Part of therapy involves normalizing the thoughts and feelings that you feel are abnormal or strange.
